Cazadero - Lots to do!
Some of my favorite places to explore in and near Cazadero are:
Do not miss Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. It is a lovely place to hike with majestic redwood trees. Please note: Dogs are not allowed.
Wine tasting. Without going too far from your home base, you can enjoy several different wineries or wine tasting rooms. One of our favorite places to visit is Korbel Winery in Guerneville. You can have a free tasting of Korbel’s marketplace wines. They have gorgeous gardens. Unfortunately, right now Korbel is not offering garden tours but check their website to see if and when they reopen.
Russian River. A fun adventure, depending on weather and water level, is to take a Russian River Kayak tour.
Goat Rock. We love heading out to the coast. Goat Rock is part of the beautiful Sonoma coast. It is a pretty easy hike and you just might see some seals. Be sure to bring a sweater or jacket. It can get chilly out that way. There are some picnic tables so you can bring a picnic. After a nice hike, we like heading a little further south to Bodega Bay for some fish or oysters.
Duncan Mills. Just down the road a piece from Cazadero is the tiny, charming town of Duncan Mills. There are a number of restaurants and shops there. One of our favorite places to spend a little time is the Duncan Mills Tea Shop. The shop is beautiful with all things related to tea. Somehow we can never leave this shop without purchasing a new tea flavor or two. Another one of my favs is Worldly Goods. Oh, how I wish I bought a unique bracelet I saw awhile back. I still dream about it. This shop, in addition to jewelry, has a lot to behold and enjoy. There are many more fun shops in this cute town to spend a little time in.
Fort Ross. This is an interesting adventure. We’ve visited a few times and have enjoyed it each time. Fort Ross is a Russian - era fort compound and is a designated California State, Historic Park. It is north of Cazadero up Highway One, north of Jenner. There are hikes and as well as panoramic views for you to enjoy. Just be mindful of the weather conditions when traveling up and down Highway One.
